Please welcome our newest CCTM officer
Recently, CCTM lost our Sergeant-at-Arms. This is a very important office, as the Sgt. is the person in charge of all our STUFF.
Luckily for us, a brand new member, Sal Hernandez, stepped forward to fill the vacancy. Thanks, Sal. CCTM appreciates your willingness to serve!
Club Contest Winners move to next level
After winning our club contests on August 27, 2008, Crystal Clear Toastmasters Kathryn Gooding in the Evaluation category and Linda Gaska in the Humorous Speech category, will move to the next level of competition.
On Thursday, September 25, they will compete against representatives from other local clubs in the Northwest Area 1 contest. The winer of the area contest will advance to the division level, which is just one step from the grand prize, District Champion.
The final competition will be held at the Chicagoland Toastmasters Fall Conference on October 24-25, in Elk Grove Village.
The area contest is open to the public. For more information, click here.
● CCTM elects new officers

New officers for the 2008-2009 fiscal year were inducted at our June 12 meeting. They will begin serving their terms on July 1, and end on June 30, 2009. We're all looking forward to another successful year filled with milestones for our members.
From left to right, they are: Adele Peterson, Secretary; Terri Williams, VP Membership; Linda Gaska, President; Sal DiBenedetto, Treasurer; Pam Gitta, VP Public Relations; and Ken Tentler, Sgt. at Arms. Not pictured is Steve Scott, VP Education.
● CCTM members celebrate a milestone
At our May 13 meeting, Norm Muelleman and Sal
DiBenedetto achieved their Competent Communicator awards.
Competent Communicator awards are given to Toastmasters members who
complete the ten required speeches in the basic manual, covering
such skills as writing a well-organized speech, speaking to inspire,
and using voice and body language to help get a point across. They
will now move on to the advanced Toastmasters level as they continue
their public speaking education.

● New time, new place! Will we see your smiling face?
Beginning with our first meeting in June, we will be gathering at a new time and location.
On June 12, 2008, we will hold our first THURSDAY morning meeting. It will begin at 7:30am at Panera Bread, 6000 Northwest Hwy in Crystal Lake (in front of Best Buy). Come and join us!
●A message from the President:
|
Crystal Clear Toastmasters, Toastmaster meetings don't just "happen". Meetings take careful planning and an organization structure to support the necessary activities involved in maintaining a non-profit Club. Club officers provide that planning and organization. Club office positions also provide an opportunity to develop and improve leadership skills. Each office is important, with its own set of duties, and all the officers must work together to fulfill the Toastmaster Mission." Are you ready to "step up" and help run our Crystal Clear Toastmasters Club? Being an officer does take some extra time, as anything worthwhile always does. It's a step into leadership experience. It's a step into creativity when fulfilling the role. It's a step into responsibility that builds skills, helps the Club function, and looks good on a resume'. We already have members experienced in officer roles who can help, and Toastmasters provides all the support you want through training and manuals. Please consider stepping up to help both yourself and the Club move forward. I'll attach an explanation of the officer positions for you to consider. Let either Terri or myself know which office you would like to challenge yourself with as we start planning for next year, which begins July 1. On behalf of our entire team this year, I thank you for considering being a part of the team next year. I hope you will take up the challenge. Bruce Burrow, President, CCTM |
●We've got a winner!
On March 11, the NW1 Area of District 30 Toastmasters held its annual Spring contest, with competition in Table Topics and the International Speech contest.
CCTM's own Sal DiBenedetto took home the first place trophy for his extemporaneous speech in answer to the question, "If you could go back and change one moment in your life, what moment would it be and what would you change?"
Sal will next represent our club (and our Area) at the Division contest on Wednesday, April 16 at 6pm, at the Motorola facility in Arlington Heights. For information on attending this contest (and cheering for Sal!), send an email to Kyle Roti at gatorufl@yahoo.com
●Welcome our NEWEST MEMBER:
Adele Petersen joined CCTM at our last meeting, Feb 26. She has been a visitor several times, and it's nice to know we'll continue to see her smiling face!
●Dues are due (still the best bargain in the biz...)
Club dues will be collected during the month of March. Crystal Clear must pay Toastmasters International by April 1, so prepare your check for $36 made payable to Crystal Clear Toastmasters and bring it to our next meeting on March 11. (Be proud of yourself for paying your dues without needing several reminders! Go on...write that check right now....)
And by the way, at the suggestion of Club President Bruce Burrow, your Club Officers voted to lower the dues by three dollars! YEE-HAH!
●Spring 2008 Club Contest Results
CCTM held our Spring Club Contest on January 22, 2008. The winner of the Table Topics contest, who will now advance to the Area Contest at a date to be announced, was Sal DiBenedetto.
The ever-entertaining Mr. DiBenedetto attacked the proposed question with his usual gusto: "If you could chat with a famous person, living or dead, what would you talk about and with whom?"
He chose Jesus Christ, and injected quite a bit of humor into what you might expect would be a pretty serious interview. We know he'll make us proud at the area contest!
●CCTM says thanks to Nick

CCTM President Bruce Burrow presents Nick Sarolli of Nicks' Pizza with the first-ever "Benevolent Host" award, in Dec 2007.
Nick has invited us to meet in his restaurant since our inception in 2006, and we really appreciate it. Thanks, Nick!
